A total of 135 people were injured and 1,385 were detained on Saturday after violence broke out between police and gangs of masked youths in several French cities as protests against increasing living costs continued for a fourth consecutive weekend.
Some 10,000 demonstrators participated in a march in Paris, while an estimated 125,000 protesters turned out across the country as whole. Among the injured were 17 police officers who were mainly hurt in scuffles in the French capital and in the southwestern city of Bordeaux.
The so-called "yellow vest" protests started in response to a fuel tax rise that has since been scrapped by the government after pressure was put on President Emmanuel Macron. The protests have continued, however, as anger has spiraled to encompass a wider range of concerns over the ever higher living costs in France. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181209...
